NewSong CDs available!

This 5-song EP is a collection of favorite songs used in NewSong worship over the past five years. This joyful recording is perfect to pop in your CD player when you need some uplifting music!

There is no charge for the CD, but donations are appreciated.

Children and youth ages 2-18 are invited to use their love of music to participate in our worship services. A variety of musical experiences, both vocal and instrumental, are offered weekly.

Carol Choir         

Singing and rhythm games for ages 2-3 with parent or caregiver attending. Meets from 5:00-5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, September through June, in L 2-4. Sings at 11:00 a.m. worship one time per year on Church Music Sunday.

 

Cherub Choir    

Vocal choir for children ages 4-grade 1. Meets from 5:00-5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, September through June, in L 11 (Children’s Choir Room). Sings at 11:00 a.m. worship 4 times per year and leads the 5:00 p.m. Children’s Christmas Eve service.

 

Joy Singers         

Vocal choir for children in grades 2-5. Meets from 5:00-5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, September through June, in L 9 (Choir Room). Sing at 11:00 a.m. worship 6 times per year and present a musical in costume in December. Participate as worship leaders in 7:30 p.m. Christmas Eve worship.

 

Youth Singers   

Vocal choir for young women in grades 6-12. Meets from 5:30-6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays, September through June, in L 9 (Choir Room). Sing for 11:00 a.m. worship 6 times per year and serve as worship leaders for 7:30 p.m. Christmas Eve worship. Join with Luther Choir (see below) for several worship services per year.

 

Luther Choir      

Vocal choir for young men in grades 6-12. Meets from 5:30-6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays, September through June, in L 6. Sings for 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. worship 6 times per year and serves as worship leaders for 7:30 p.m. Christmas Eve worship. Join with Youth Singers (see above) for several worship services per year.

 

Prime Chimes   

Handbell choir for children in grades 3-5. Meets from 5:30-6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays, September through June, in L 15 (Youth Handbell Room). Play for 11:00 a.m. worship 3 times per year, participate in the December Instrumental Concert, and play
prelude for 7:30 p.m. Christmas Eve worship. No ringing or music reading experience is needed.

 

Notabells            

Handbell choir for youth in grades 6-8. Meets from 5:00-5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays in Room L 15 (Youth Handbell Room). Play for 11:00 a.m. worship 4 times per year, participate in the December Instrumental Concert, and play prelude for 7:30 p.m. Christmas Eve worship. No ringing or music reading experience is needed, but is helpful.

 

Luther Ringers  

Handbell choir for youth in grades 9-12, with youth in grades 6-8 invited to participate on an as-needed basis. Play for 11:00 a.m. worship as 4 times per year, participate in the December Instrumental Concert, and play prelude for 11:00 p.m. Christmas Eve worship. Ringing experience is helpful; music reading experience is needed.

 

Flute Choir         

Intergenerational choir for flutists with at least 2 years playing experience. Rehearses as needed for worship and other parish life events.

 

 

Other Worship Opportunities for Young Children:

Children’s Church   

Activity for children ages 3 (by August 31)-grade 1 during 11:00 a.m. worship weekly, September-June. Children participate in worship in their own language and space.

 

Lift High the Cross   

Activity for children in grade 1 during 11:00 a.m. worship weekly, September-June. First graders serve in worship as crucifers (size-appropriate cross bearers) and lead other children to and from Children’s Church (see above).

 

 

Other Worship Opportunities for Youth:

Liturgical Dance      

Intergenerational Dance team for ages 10-adult at 8:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 5:00 p.m. worship. Rehearses Sundays from 4:00-5:00 p.m., September through May, in L 2-4.  

 

Acolytes              

Activity for youth in grades 7-9 during 11:00 a.m. worship weekly and for special services throughout the year. Youth serve as worship leaders by carrying the cross and banners, distributing offering plates, lighting and extinguishing candles, and providing general help during services.

 

Youth Sunday   

Worship led by youth in grades 6-12 once per year at 10:00 a.m. Youth read scripture, present the message for the day, and provide music for worship. Vocal choirs and handbell choirs involving children in grades 2-5 also participate.

 

Orchaband         

Instrumental group for youth in grades 6-12. Serve as musicians for the 5:00 p.m. Children’s Christmas Eve service and as needed for other parish life events.

 

Sound and Media Technicians   

Older youth in grades 9-12 can operate the sound system and projection screens in the worship spaces with training provided by experienced volunteers. Can partner with a parent for this servant activity.

 

Ushers and Greeters     

Older youth in grades 9-12 can serve as ushers and greeters at 8:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 5:00 p.m. worship. Ushers assist with logistics in the worship spaces, and greeters welcome worshipers. Can partner with a parent for this servant activity.
